Entry at 9 Herschell Street or 65 Marine Parade.

The Films, Videos and Publication’s Act requires all films for public exhibition to be classified. There are six standard classifications which may sometimes have a cautionary note attached.
G Suitable for general audiences of all ages
PG Younger children may require parental guidance
M Suitable for mature persons over 16 years of age
R Restricted to persons over 16 years of age unless accompanied by a parent or guardian
R16 Restricted to persons over 16 years of age only
R18 Restricted to persons over 18 years of age only
Please note that for all Restricted (R) films suitable proof of age will be required to purchase tickets and also to enter the cinema. It is recommended that a birth certificate, drivers license or photo ID which displays a date of birth is used as proof of age for restricted films.

The Century Cinema is Hawke’s Bay’s first independently-owned alternative cinema screening the finest of World Cinema since 1990.
The cinema is the major user of The Century Theatre which is also used for a variety of live events including music, drama, dance, lectures and conferences. The Century is part of the Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery complex.
